AGE GROUP: 5 & 6 years old
PARK LOCATION: St. Kateri, Emily Carr P.S. or Montcalm S.S.
FREQUENCY: Tuesday & Thursday (tentative), 6:15-7pm
DESCRIPTION: This program will introduce children to the basics of baseball. 6U (TBall) teaches all 5 basic fundamentals of baseball- hitting, throwing, catching, running and fielding in a FUN, fast-paced action environment. Parent participation is strongly recommended. This program will further introduce the fundamentals of baseball to the children. Children will begin to develop agility, coordination and balance. Rules will be introduced as kids begin playing in games weekly. Typically, the program starts mid to end of May and concludes the last Thursday in July with a huge celebration event. The 6U program runs in partnership with Oakridge Minor Baseball.
SKILLS:
Throwing: Able to throw 6/10 balls to a partner/target from 10 feet
Receiving: Able to field 6/10 ground balls from 15 feet
Hitting: Able to hit 6/10 fair balls off a tee
Base running: Able to hit off a tee and run through 1st base
EQUIPMENT:
- Baseball glove.
- Batting helmet.
- Athletic supports are not required, but are recommended.
- Long pants are recommended.
- Jerseys & hats are provided.
